WHERE SHOULD WE HAVE OUR PHOTOS TAKEN?
When it comes to the location of your session, it is great if it has a personal meaning as it will help to tell your story. Maybe the session could be your favourite place to going walking or exploring.
You could have your family photos taken at home, these sessions make for photos that are really laid back, cosy, and have a true to life feel to them.

*Please note family sessions are not undertaken in London and travel expenses will apply if more than a 20-mile radius from Braintree.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?
If it rains we can take umbrellas and go with it, or alternatively we can reschedule. Often when there is light rain you can’t see it in the photos.
WHAT TIME OF DAY IS BEST FOR PHOTOS?
A few hours before sunset or just after sunrise (this time is known as golden hour) is the best time in terms of lighting as this is when the light is at its softest and looks magical.
With that said I know this time isn’t the best time for families with young children. If you have a little one I would advise picking a time of day they are most happy, whether that be after nap time or after lunch. I would just suggest we chose a location that has shady areas so we can avoid the harsh light when the sun is high.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
I’d advise wearing whatever makes you feel comfortable as this will make you feel most confident. Whether that be rocking up in your favourite pair of jeans or a floaty summer skirt, whatever makes you feel ‘you’.
I would personally avoid bold clashing colours/patterns. You can’t go wrong with neutral colours and the added benefit is that neutral colours go with most home interiors when you get the photos printed.
One piece of advice I would give you is, as we live in England we see a fair bit of rain, if you are wearing a pair of shoes that you don’t want to get dirty bring a change of shoes. In fact, if you did want to bring a change of outfit to the session, feel free. I recommend a spare outfit for kids for those just incase moments!
CAN WE BRING OUR DOG TO OUR FAMILY SESSION?
Yes, of course, they are part of the family! Please be sure to check that the location allows dogs. A little tip when bringing your fur babies would be bringing a couple of treats and their favourite toy to help get their attention in the photos.

To secure your date I require a 50% non-refundable booking fee to be paid.
WHAT DO WE DO IF WE CAN NO LONGER MAKE THE SESSION?
Please let me know as soon as possible, depending on the location of the session I can leave up to an hour before the shoot.

So we’ve decided on the perfect location that reflects your family, we meet up and take some photos. I love to keep the photo session relaxed because I believe this helps you to feel more at ease in front of the camera. I’ve been known to throw in the occasional game to take your mind off of being in front of the camera and getting some natural reactions.
Download, print, share
2 weeks after your family photo session you will receive a link to a password protected online gallery where you can download the high-resolution images, print and share with loves ones.
Repeat
It doesn’t have to be the end of our photography journey! Families are forever changing and growing, let’s make this a yearly tradition and keep those frames up to date! I always love catching up with families, meeting the new additions and hearing their stories. If you time the session well you could always gift photos of your little cuties to loved ones for birthdays/Christmas.

Gemma did an amazing job photographing our wedding and we love all our wedding photos so, when I saw that she was doing family photography, I couldn’t wait to get some photos of our son and they have completely lived up to expectations!
