Laurel and Jack had their engagement session at Hylands House in Chelmsford, I love working here as there are so many gorgeous places to stop and take photos. I particularly love the Chinese gardens as it is always full of vibrant colour.

Their engagement session was a great opportunity to hear about how their wedding plans are coming together for their wedding next year, which I know is going to be an amazing day to photograph!

Before the session Laurel had mentioned that she and Jack were nervous about having their photos taken so for this blog post I wanted to share their perspective of the engagement session, hopefully, their feedback should be insightful for those planning their engagement session.

How did you feel about having an engagement session?

I was really excited about having the session as I didn’t know what to expect, but at the same time, I was so nervous because I have not done anything like this before.

Do you think the engagement session was beneficial?

I definitely think the session was beneficial before the day because we got to see how Gemma worked and what to expect. Also made me feel happier about the whole thing.

What did you enjoy most about the session?

I enjoyed that me and Jack got to be ourselves and Gemma put us at ease, by getting us to play games and just relaxing. They were all natural photos I didn’t feel like a robot doing things wrong, just felt happy the whole session.

How do you feel about stepping in front of the camera on your wedding day having done your engagement session?

I feel so much more relaxed about the whole day and having the photos done. Now I know what to expect and we can be ourselves I’m very happy being in front of the camera. I’m so pleased we had the engagement session best thing we have ever done.

What advice would you give to a nervous couple?

The advice I would probably give is just do it! Don’t worry about what people think or how you look just enjoy it. It brought us closer as a couple as the other half builds your confidence and makes you feel relaxed. So pleased we did the session.

A big thank you to Laurel and Jack for providing their feedback for future couples stepping in front of the camera!
