Marks Hall Wedding

Feb 11, 2020 | Weddings

If you recently picked up a copy of An Essex Wedding magazine you may have spotted the gorgeous Cassie and Neil in the real wedding section, sharing lots of ideas from their wedding day. In case you missed the feature I wanted to share their dreamy Christmas wedding at Marks Hall Coach House on the blog.

Cassie and Neil’s Christmas wedding at Marks Hall Coach House in Coggeshall, Essex.

Cassie chose to get ready in Wakes Colne at Wakes Hall Lodges which was only a short drive from the church. She and the bridal party stayed the night before for a chilled evening and made good use of the onsite hot tub! Any couples looking for a morning prep venue around Coggeshall, I recommend Wakes Hall Lodges. The lodge that Cassie had was filled with lots of natural light which was great for photos and as the location is surrounded by stunning countryside it made for a peaceful start to the wedding day.

Whilst I was photographing team bride Laura my second shooter joined Neil and the guys in the quaint town of Coggeshall for a couple of group photos and captured some candid moments of them having a pint before heading to the church just down the road.

Coggeshall wedding ceremony at St Nicholas Chapel.

Having driven past the Abbey Lane many times in the past I had never heard of St Nicholas Chapel before meeting Cassie and Neil. St Nicholas Chapel is a beautiful little chapel, I actually think it is a hidden gem in Coggeshall I love it that much. I love that it has huge windows that allow the natural light to flood in, making for bright and airy photos. As the chapel is fairly small it feels really cosy inside when you have all the wedding guests seated. One thing to mention is the priest that did the service for Cassie and Neil was awesome and happy with photos being taken during the ceremony (you might be surprised to hear that some priests don’t allow photos, and it is important to always check!).

After the ceremony, everyone headed to The Coach House at Marks Hall. With Cassie and Neil regularly going on walks around the grounds of Marks Hall it seemed very fitting for them to have their reception there. When we arrived we photographed their couple photos around the stunning grounds. Doing couple photos first always works really well (especially if there is travel between the ceremony and reception locations) because more often than not your guests will not notice the bride and groom are missing as they are busy themselves, parking up/checking in/going to the loo, and by the time they’ve done this and grabbed a drink we are back.

I adored the florals the couple used to dress the chapel and the use of candles made it really atmospheric. My love for the floral design continues with the reception room, using moss on the tables for texture around the centrepieces and with the twinkle from the Christmas lights and the candles, it all tied together beautifully.

Thank you, Cassie and Neil, for having me capture your wedding day, it was such a joy to get to know you both. I loved creating your wedding album and seeing your day featured in An Essex Wedding Magazine really was the cherry on top. Wishing you both all the happiness in your family together.

Amazing wedding vendors involved on their day listed at the bottom of the blog post.
